System Design & Graphic Design

I made my first game when I was five years old. It was simple and barely functional. Despite this, there was something about putting my work into someone else's hands and seeing what they did with it that I couldn't get enough of. Since then I have been following a life long passion for game design.

I designed the gameplay of Bloodmad. This includes the rules, systems, and character cards. I also oversaw playtesting and balance.

I wanted to combine my love of MOBAs and TCGs with the aesthetic of Gothic Horror. The result is a character based battle card game with an emphasis on the passage of time. The ability to perform actions in any order emphasizes tactical decision making, while the clock system and ability to choose your team asks for long term strategic planning.  While characters are designed to fulfill specific roles within the game, there was also great attention to whether their gameplay reflected their aesthetic and personality.

I had to make some hard decisions along the way such as cutting mechanics, or giving up on a concept or character that just wasn't working. In the end we made a deep and engaging game that I am incredibly proud of.

My favorite characters are Justinian and Millicent. I can't resist a bad guy working for the greater good, and Millicent is such a wild storm of personality and power. Now if I can just figure out how to get them on the same team...
